THIS JOB CODE MAY REQUIRE SAFE ACT REGISTRATION. Underwrites residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards. As a Client Mortgage Underwriter you will be responsible for but not limited to the underwriting of residential loans ensuring compliance with appropriate company and secondary market investor standards. A Mortgage Underwriter will be responsible for examining loan documentation¿ for accuracy and completeness while working with loan originator or production staff to secure all required documents. You may be required to work with more senior mortgage underwriters on loan exceptions having the authority to withdraw and decline loans. Mortgage Underwriters may be involved in one or several types of mortgage lending (conventional, government-backed, etc.) You may also be required to respond directly to individual and investor audits. This job code includes all levels of underwriting authority and exception levels. May respond to individual and investor audits. Must achieve government underwriting authority consistent with individual level of experience, including a successful CAIVERS check.

Required Skills :
2+ years of mortgage underwriting experience, including review of credit reports for accuracy and red flags, appraisal review, calculation of DTI, income, assets and LTV/CLTV and other complex financial documents (i.e. Tax Returns) OR 1 year of Client processing with SASE use.
Proven ability to perform quality work while maintaining productivity and compliance standards.
Proven negotiation and communication skills with both fulfillment teammates, sales partners and customers.
Knowledge of conventional and/or government guidelines, federal lending regulations governing real estate lending. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Teamwork and customer service skills are a MUST. Self-motivated and highly organized. Ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks. Flexibility to work extended hours during heavy workload periods. Must show strong capacity to address credit related issues and points of risk to ensure that underwriting meets quality assurance standards.

Familiarity with secondary market requirements.

Desired Skills :
Bilingual-Spanish preferred but not required
EDGE/StatusMart experience is desired.
Greater than 6 years of recent manual underwriting experience, including Non Conforming and signing on loans greater than $2M and ability to make business decisions
