Mortgage Loan Originator Expeditor (Municipal Credit Union)

Primary Job Function:
  • Under General Supervision but in line with established policies, is responsible for assisting the Mortgage Loan Originators by calling on customers and prospective customers to promote new and additional mortgage business for the Credit Union.
  • Pre-qualify and interview mortgage applicants and take their applications at all MCU locations. Have knowledge of loan preparation requirements including but not limited to preliminary Good Faith Estimate, Truth in Lending Disclosure, and Lock-in Agreement in compliance with RESPA. Provide administrative support to the Loan Originator for applications received online.
  • Answer telephones. Assist Loan Originator by submitting files for cancellation, denial and withdrawals as identified by the Loan Originator.
  • Scan member's initial loan documents into shared folder(s).
  • Retrieve documents that are faxed by a member to a Loan Originator.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist with answering incoming Mortgage Loan Originator and Telephone Inquiry phone calls and provide general mortgage information to prospective clients.
  • Keeps a detailed log of all phone calls received including but not limited to retaining a log of the resolution summary within loan notes.
  • Contact mortgage applicants to obtain missing mortgage information from mortgage applications submitted via internet
  • Assist with follow-up phone calls to potential new homebuyers
  • Pre-qualify prospective borrowers
  • Types and sends out pre-qualification certificates to members.
  • Follow up on credit report resolutions as identified by the Loan Originator
  • Enter preliminary information in PC based mortgage processing computer network.
  • Assist with some third party order outs including but not limited to ordering flood certifications, verification of mortgages, verification of deposits, etc.).
  • Checks voice mail messages on a consistent basis, returns calls or designate to appropriate party as needed
  • Navigates through LOS system to determine how the call may be resolved and forward the specific calls to the appropriate area within the department based on member's inquiry
  • Assist with file preparation
  • Assist Loan Originator with pipeline maintenance by submitting files for cancellation denial and withdrawals as identified by the Loan Originator.
  • Scan member's initial loan documents into shared folder(s).
  • Retrieve documents that are faxed by a member to a Loan Originator as well as saving documents to the appropriate shared folder(s).
  • Assist with scheduling Loan Originator and branch appointments
  • Assist with confirming scheduled Loan Originator and branch appointments with the member, Loan Originator and Branch personnel
  • Assist with mailing out applications, brochures or other material as requested by members.
  • Assist with making and confirming member reservations for mortgage related seminars and speaking events
  • Assist the Loan Originators by reviewing files on a continuous basis and send follow up letters every 5-10 days as requested by the Loan Originator.
  • Assist the Loan Originator with moving file to processing and / or underwriting as soon as possible.
  • Assist with reviewing online and branch applications as requested by the Loan Originator
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as required by the Supervisor or Manager of Mortgage Operations.
Requirements:
  • Candidate must have a High school diploma or college degree a plus.
  • A minimum of five years experience with Real Estate and prior mortgage/banking experience required.
  • Candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills to represent MCU in a positive fashion.
  • Good speaking voice and telephone skills.
  • Candidate must possess knowledge of mortgage terminology and experience with a thorough knowledge of Client and all other secondary market guidelines.
  • Candidate must be sales oriented and able to utilize good judgment in crisis situations.
  • Excellent PC knowledge including but not limited to Microsoft word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Must also possess excellent Proof-reading, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Candidate must be able to multitask on an ongoing basis.
  • Candidate must be able to work extended hours and occasional weekends.
  • Through knowledge of MCU products and services (training will be provided).
Candidate must have an NMLS ID number or be eligible to obtain an NMLS number through the federal registry. Candidate must maintain Federal Banking Agency Certifications and Requirements for Mortgage Loan Originators
