Our Loan Officers are producing and we need underwriters to help keep up with their success. As a result we are recruiting for a Mortgage Loan Underwriter. You will be based in a correspondent lending environment and be required to approve or deny loans based on established guidelines. DE and or SAR certified.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Reviews and evaluates information on mortgage loan documents to determine if buyer, property, and loan conditions meet establishment and government standards.
  • Evaluates acceptability of loan to corporations that buy real estate loans on secondary mortgage markets, where existing mortgages are bought and sold by investors.
  • Determines terms and acceptability of risk of prospective business.
  • Approves or rejects loan application, or requests additional information.
  • Records loan rejections, specifying investor and institution guidelines and basis for declining application, such as insufficient cash reserves.
  • Assembles documents in loan files, including acceptance or denial, and returns files to processor and/or originating mortgage loan officer.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and, 5 or more years Client/FHLMC underwriting experience; DU & LP experience.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • An Underwriter must have a minimum of five year's experience as an Underwriter and be eligible for approval by FHA as a Direct Endorsement (DE) Underwriter.
