Underwriter III (NOIC)

To underwrite files by issuing/clearing conditions certifying that the data integrity of the loan files are in compliance with NOIC and agencies guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To review the documentation provided in the loan files to make informed underwriting decisions
To ensure that the loan file meets the program criteria for the type of appropriate financing.
To identify and issue conditions in Encompass system such as clarification or to request additional information/documents within three days from the time the file was assigned.
If licensed with DE number—Direct Endorsement, approve the loans according to the HUD (Department of Housing) and the pertinent VA, FHA, NOIC and/or investors' regulations and guidelines.
Promptly respond to the conditions that were submitted to encompass; review and ensure they meet the guidelines and decide if clarification or more information is needed.
To clear in a timely manner the conditions as submitted on loan files when requirements are met.
To respond to quality control findings reports done on a monthly basis and report back to management regarding those findings.
Essential Knowledge, Skills
Basic knowledge of the mortgage/lending business
Extensive knowledge of underwriting guidelines including but not limited to FHA, VA, rural housing RHS, conventional programs
Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts such as adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.
Understand and respond appropriately to basic inquires.
Read, write and communicate using English language sufficient to perform job functions
Ability to use the desktop Underwriter System AUS and encompass system
Access, input, retrieve and interpret information using applicable computer systems (including but not limited to: Microsoft office, Outlook, Excel, Lotus, etc.)
