A Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) provides professional financial services to the public to allow customers to finance the purchase of residential real property and/or to refinance existing mortgages secured by residential real property. MLOs work independently and make sales calls to potential customers, and referral sources. Typical referral sources include realtors, home builders, real estate attorneys, accountants, financial consultants, real estate appraisers, etc. This is a sales position which requires frequent work outside of the office at business development functions and community events, to conduct office visits of real estate agencies, and attorneys, and to meet with loan applicants.

Job Duties (include but are not limited to)
  • Conduct interviews with mortgage loan applicants to analyze financial and credit data for the purposes of prequalification for mortgage loan products.
  • Meet with mortgage loan applicants to evaluate what mortgage loan product will best suit their needs.
  • Gather and review required documentation from the applicant throughout the mortgage loan application process and enter required documents into the banking system.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by maintaining knowledge of product/pricing policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain communication with the applicant, and all other parties involved with the mortgage loan application process to ensure customer satisfaction, and the successful close of the loan.
  • Continually identify, develop and maintain a quality network of business relationships.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional ethics and compliance with all Federal and State regulatory and legislative policies.

  • NMLS License required NMLS registration/ Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) license
  • Knowledge of FHA, Client,FHLMC guidelines
  • Familiarity with loan originator software (Encompass)
  • Complete comprehension of mortgage underwriting and closing processes
  • Candidate must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment
  • Must have effective written and oral communication skills.
  • PC literate
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to originate, analyze, and manage mortgage loan applications.
  • Sales oriented with excellent interpersonal communication, skills and a strong desire to succeed.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular business hours to meet customer and loan process needs.
  • Ability to move 15+ pounds
  • Must have Drivers License and reliable transportation
  • Ability to sit for 6-8 hours a day
