Plant Repairman 2nd Shift (CalPortland)

Under direct supervision of the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for the daily maintenance and repair of the ready mix concrete plant as well as other miscellaneous work that needs to be performed including but not limited to the electrical systems, feeders, screens, conveyors, etc.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnose problems and perform mechanical repair and maintenance to stationary production machinery including but not limited to: batch plants, motors, conveyors, electrical and drives.
Inspect and report condition of machinery for items needing repair or service while maintaining a service log.
Rebuild or fabricate parts; repair electrical equipment.
Utilizes a variety of hand tools to repair, adjust and dismantle equipment being repaired and/or installed.
Read and interpret technical manuals.
Coordinates ordering/purchasing of parts from approved vendors, occasionally delivering parts.
Operate fixed and mobile equipment as necessary; uses mobile equipment to carry and lift parts into place.
Must wear personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in designated areas.
Comply with all environmental, health, safety & training policies, procedures and requirements.
Will be required to work Second (2nd) Shift: 8:00am 5:00pm, overtime and weekend as business needs determine.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Valid driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Must be able to work in a heavy industrial environment, exposed to weather elements, some noise, perform some work in confined spaces, dust
Frequent climbing and work conducted and at extreme heights.
Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, stooping, bending, feeling, balancing, sitting, handling.
Communication skills to express or exchange ideas and giving or receiving detailed oral instructions.
Must be able to wear all required personal protection equipment for the task, including, but not exclusive, of safety glasses, respiratory protection, safety belts, gloves, etc.
Must be able to perform heavy work and heavy lifting, with frequent lifting up to 50 pounds.
Must have good mechanical and welding skills, certified welders preferred. Must have sufficient level of education to understand oral and written instructions of somewhat technical nature relating to products and vehicles.
Must have the ability to read technical manuals and understand schematic diagrams.
Must be familiar with OSHA regulations.
Ability to operate crane, forklift, loaders, and various other types of mobile equipment preferred.
Must have the ability to work independently and lead a team
Preferred:
Three (3) years experience as a mechanic in the construction/mining/ concrete industry preferred.
Commercial Driver's License with proper endorsements.
