Robotic Welding Technician
Overview:
  • Space Exploration Technologies is committed to providing the safest, most reliable and economical access to space. This position will fulfill these points by ensuring that robotic welding equipment efficiently and consistently produces high quality welds, this is especially critical as we begin manned missions and missions to Mars.
Responsibilities:
  • Maintaining robotic weld quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure all WPS's and PQR's are enforced, accurate and updated if needed. Along with any re-qualification tests are completed and validated when changes or updates are required
  • Troubleshooting robot errors.
  • Performing basic preventative and regular maintenance on robotic weld cells.
  • Use skills and experience to reduce cycle time within each robotic weld cell.
  • Perform Manual GTAW DC welding process on Aluminum in various positions and thicknesses per AWS D17.1 Class A procedures and specifications
  • Perform Manual GMAW welding process on Aluminum in various positions and thicknesses per AWS D17.1 Class A procedures and specifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year of robotics experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of welding experience (GTAW & GMAW per AWS D17.1 Specifications).
  • Minimum 1 year of Metal Fabrication experience.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • AAS degree in Welding Technology or similar.
  • 5 years of Fanuc robotics experience.
  • 10 years of welding experience.
  • 3 years of GTAW welding experience on Aluminum using DC current
  • Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experience in shop math, tooling technology, blueprint reading and measurement of parts.
  • Experience using precision measuring devices in a shop floor environment. (e.g., micrometers, calipers).
Additional Requirements:
  • Able to work 2nd shift hours (3:30pm - 2:00am).
  • Able to work overtime hours, as needed (50 hours std week).
  • Able to lift a minimum of 25lbs. unassisted.
  • Able to climb ladders.
  • Able to work near large, fast moving equipment.
