We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Loan Processor for a temporary assignment in the West Covina area. Under general supervision of the Real Estate Loan Supervisor and/or Lending Manager, performs loan processing prior to underwriting review for first mortgage loans. Reviews and gathers documentation related to first mortgage, ensures Credit Union can obtain official recorded interest in collateral, evaluates the value of collateral ensuring it is sufficient to secure loan for amount requested.

  • Responds to inquiries from branches and members concerning loan status.
  • Reviews all new loan submissions for completeness and accuracy prior to generating/mailing initial disclosures to members.
  • Orders and reviews 3rd party documentation for secured loans such as title, appraisal, flood and credit reports. Address credit/title/flood issues with members and document critical information in file for underwriter review.
  • Process loans based on Credit Union polices and guidelines and provide support to Sales Staff.
  • Prepares documentation and written correspondence to members.
  • Completes or attends required compliance and/or industry training assignments as assigned.
  • Performs all duties in compliance with laws, regulations, Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Obtains all documentation to satisfy underwriting conditions and collateral information.
  • May perform some research on non-routine inquires and other related duties as required.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Real Estate loan department, and advanced product knowledge.
  • Advanced working knowledge of all Real Estate related loan documents.
  • Advanced working knowledge of real estate lending compliance, regulations, Uniform Commercial Code, TRID requirements, operations and credit union philosophy.
  • Advanced knowledge of credit fundamentals (e.g. credit scoring, property appraisal review, reviewing of a credit report, debt ratio calculation for advanced income analysis). For ex; Income tax analysis, Schedules C and E.
  • Advanced analytical skills sufficient to conduct an analysis of applicant's credit status.
  • Advanced effective oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Advanced personal computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets.
