SCOPE & PURPOSE OF JOB The Senior Systems Admin's role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT Dept. in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct and design IT related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The Senior Systems Admin will work closely with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The person will also define and implement IT policies, procedures, and best practices. The ideal candidate will possess an in-depth knowledge of business functions, processes and practices and will work closely with our technical partners and Business Engagement to optimize the effectiveness of technology, against all business levels. The team owns back-end systems that are used for daily business productivity including: IBM Power Infrastructure, IBMi Operating Systems.
  • Responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, monitoring and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure.
  • Define, analyze, develop, test and maintain custom and third-party software applications, with an emphasis on Infor Mapics XA ERP software and subsystems. This will also include research, design, documentation, and modifying software specifications throughout the production life cycle.
  • Provide problem resolution and on-call technical support for production software issues or system problems including identification, research, resolution and documentation of root cause.
  • Develop programs and customizations to support business process.
  • Work with Business Engagement and end users to analyze, design, test, implement and support ERP business solutions.
  • Assist with installation and configuration of third-party software.
  • Create and maintain documentation for code and/or configuration throughout the software life cycle.
  • Develop detailed technical design and test specifications in accordance with SDLC strategies.
  • Identify and manage risks throughout the project life cycle to avoid business disruptions.
  • Shape and adhere to development standards and IT best practices.
  • Resolve system and software issues as needed.
  • Prioritize workload in support of business objectives. 
  • Work on projects and change order requests as assigned.
  • Provide support for user tickets within specific SLA's.
  • Ensure our disaster recovery plan is effective and our machines are configured to handle the required workloads.
  • Maintain IS Knowledge Base entries that cover topics in a manner that enable the members of Technical Services and Systems Support to answer and correct common problems.
  • Perform activities in support of a 24x7 global support model for all environments.
  • Participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure.
  • Accountable for the following systems: Infor XA, IBM iSeries Power8, RPG, Oracle DB, NT Servers and apps.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned

Functional Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Must be a team player, have the ability to work under pressure, have a professional image and be able to resolve problems and conflicts. Must possess business communications skills such as advanced writing, listening and have basic office and mathematics skills, and customer service skills. Possession of professional skills such as report writing, basic statistics, effective presentation skills and creative skills are required. Previous experience with MS Office including MS Word and MS Excel required. Ability to manage complex schedule and multiple commitments.
Minimum Education and/or Certifications Requirements: Bachelors in Engineering (MIS), MBA degree preferred.
Minimum Work Experience Requirements: 5 - 10 years of ERP knowledge using Infor XA (Mapics) supporting the various functions such as Order to Cash, Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Requirements planning, Inventory control within manufacturing, distribution or retail organizations. BPCS or any other ERP/MRP experience  will be considered.   
Technical and/or Other Essential Knowledge: Fundamental understanding of the following systems Infor XA, IBM iSeries Power8, RPG, Oracle DB, NT Servers. Functional understanding of ERP systems and the flow of data between different modules in the ERP system.
Working Conditions: On Call during Production Go-Live
