Job Summary:

The Salesforce Administrator is primarily responsible for managing the data, solutions, business and technology architectures of the Salesforce.com customer relationship management (CRM) system.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Information Technology and Services, the Salesforce Architect is a key IT position, responsible for supporting the Enterprise CRM team in delivering complete solutions for the business. Additionally, this IT leader is knowledgeable on current and emerging trends and best practices in customer relationship management, integration technologies, application development, master data management, and the Salesforce.com ecosystem.

The Salesforce Architect partners with business analysts, project managers, and application administrator in translating business requirements into solutions and technology roadmaps that are aligned with architecture standards and guidelines. The Salesforce Architect is a hands-on role that requires significant technical experience and abilities with Salesforce.com and related cloud technologies. Therefore, this position is a technical authority that is responsible for the successful delivery of new functionality and will have intricate knowledge of integrations and other downstream impacts.

Finally, this position partners with internal product owners to understand business objectives and assists them in defining future state definitions and strategic roadmaps to help meet those objectives.


Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Enterprise Architecture Design
    • Lead the architecture and enabling technologies strategy for digital enablement for the organization. This includes the Enterprise CRM (SFDC) and cross-functional technologies that Salesforce.com will integrate with.
    • Develop and maintain a blueprint for the individual systems to be deployed, the interdependencies between the application systems, and their relationships to the core business processes of the organization with the frameworks for services to be exposed as business functions for integration.
    • Provide architecture and solution guidance to project teams in support of solution design and development.
    • Lead identification of assets or services that can be re-used by the project teams to drive consistency, cost reduction, and increase solution delivery within assigned architecture or functional domains.
    • Facilitate targeted innovation for the architecture domain. Research and lead proof-of-concepts to assess and build new capabilities within the enterprise system architecture.

  1. Technical Leadership
  • Guide internal clients to innovate and accelerate their growth by leveraging the right tools and features provided by the Salesforce ecosystem.
  • Be a trusted advisor engaging with product owners in defining an IT roadmap to align their business vision with an architecture blueprint.
  • Own definition of the end-to-end solution architecture to accommodate defined business requirements which includes a delivery framework that ensures quality and success.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert and owner of third party integrations with SFDC that include ETL processes as well as any uses of web services and APIs.
  • Act as Service Manager in addressing any incidents or problems relating to customizations and integrations on the SFDC platform.
  • Proactively monitor strategic direction of solution vendors, technology and market trends, and determine their potential impact and value to the enterprise.

  1. Project Management
  • Collaborate with project teams on new and ongoing projects to ensure the solution accurately meets the defined expectations of the business, that proper testing is implemented, and performance and security requirements are closely monitored.
  • Ensures the successful execution of projects to specification and within scheduled timelines and budget parameters.
  • Work with project managers to prioritize development tasks to meet the objectives and goals of each project.
  1. Application Development
  • Responsible for the design of technical solutions, proof-of-concepts, prototyping and documentation of technical design throughout the SDLC process.
  • Design and implement innovative solutions with a focus on adhering to standards, best practices, and code quality techniques.
  • Design and implement data structure, flows, Apex classes, Visualforce pages, and Lightning components to support application build.
  • Perform configuration of objects, fields, record types, page layouts, validation rules, workflows, process builder, email alerts, approval processes, list views, reports, and dashboards.
  • Develop and maintain third party integrations with SFDC via web services, APIs, and other methods or tools.
  • Responsible for integration and system testing as a part of quality assurance during implementations and rollouts of new system features.
  • Participate in formal governance and change/release management processes.
  • Act as a technical lead in acceptance testing and validation of Salesforce configuration and development.
  1. IT Administration
    • Develop and maintain up-to-date technical, functional, and process documentation.
    • Seek opportunities to improve department efficiency and reduce expenses by streamlining operations.
    • Provide status reports on projects on a regular basis, Ensures the successful execution of projects to specification and within scheduled timelines and budget parameters.
    • Ability to work extended hours as needed, including some evenings and weekends, and be on-call for emergencies.
    • Works closely with the Senior Director, Information Technology and Services on technology strategy, solutions, resources, and compliance.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience as a Salesforce Administrator or Developer including technical implementation, day-to-day operation, long-term projects, and org maintenance.
  • At least 2-4 years' experience in Architecture role-SFDC or other CRM architecture experience a plus. Energetic, "hand-on” and adaptable.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment.
  • Experience with the DevOps model a plus.


Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited college or university in Computer Science/ Information Systems/Management of Information Systems or related degree.
  • Salesforce.com Administrator and/or Developer Certifications.
  • Any other enterprise architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF)


Technical Competencies & Special Skills:
  • Experience with Force.com declarative configuration and Apex/Visualforce/API development.
  • Proficient in writing SOQL and SOSL queries.
  • Experience working with APIs (REST & SOAP), and Integration/Middleware tools such as Informatica, Jitterbit, and MuleSoft.
  • Experience with SDLC processes such as code versioning, packaging, test driven development (TDD), continuous integration, test automation, code analysis and code quality metrics.
  • Experience with unit testing, deploying change sets from Salesforce sandbox environments, and familiar with common software development practices methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of security concepts such as single sign-on and data security.
  • Familiarity with user interface development principles and experience with JavaScript, SQL, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience delivering Portals/Communities on the Community Cloud platform, as plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce 1 mobile app.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex web and database projects across all phases.
