The Engineering Technician will maintain production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment. The position consists of two primary aspects: thorough understanding of the HMI (computer) and the ability to make mechanical adjustments or repairs to ensure the machine manufactures solar modules to the required engineering parameters and production  time. He or she must have experience using CNC / HMI control, tooling setup and process controls in order to operate, make adjustments, and complete set-ups / off-sets on a robotic assembly machine. A strong understanding of manufacturing process controls, measurement methods, and trouble shooting on electrical and mechanical systems is required. This position requires someone who is committed to maintaining a high speed automated production line.
Essential Functions

  1. Ensures operation of automation machinery equipment meets quality and capacity requirements.
  2. This is accomplished by completing the preventive maintenance requirements on automation/gantries systems, motors, pneumatic, conveyor systems… per the manufactures requirements.
  3. Must be able to understand machine electrical and mechanical drawings, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  4. Troubleshoots malfunctions (HMI / CNC controls, mechanical or electrical); locates sources of problems by observing or measuring mechanical or electrical devices in operation, listening for problems, and using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  5. Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments and making adjustments via HMI or mechanical adjustment to the machine to ensure quality requirements.
  6. Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitors compliance.
  7. Ability to analyze machine error codes and diagnose root cause and corrective actions.
  8. Able to communicate with machine supplier (24/7) as necessary to ensure machine up time.
  9. Maintains equipment, parts, and supply inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipates needed equipment, parts, and supplies; places and expedites orders; follows purchase order procedure.
  10. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  11. Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  12. Follows all safety policies and procedures defined by the Company's Safety Policy and OSHA regulations to eliminate work related injuries.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
Require lifting of objects in excess of 50 pounds to chest height, and there must be sufficient arm strength to properly torque bolts.
The employee must have the physical ability to kneel, sit and bend to perform the necessary maintenance of the equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position involves standing, walking and lifting.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days to be determined to ensure machine down time is minimized.
No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Preferred Education and Experience
CNC /HMI production and process control experience.
