Infrastructure Specialist (Middleware Administration) SuSE Linux Enterprise Server/ Olympia WA 12mth

We are looking for an Infrastructure Specialist specializing in Middleware Administration / SuSE Linux Enterprise Server for a 12month project with a top client of ours in Olympia Washington. This person will support administration of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and middleware running on both Linux and Windows.

Duties include:
  • Software Installation – Install both SLES and middleware products on X86 and zSeries hardware platforms.
  • Configuration – Configure servers and middleware to perform as required by architectural designs. Perform tuning activities to meet desired goals. Work with Data and Change Control teams to make required configuration changes that are part of larger changes.
  • Architectural – Participate with other staff to design optimal server solutions.
  • Support – Assist other staff in diagnosing problems and developing fixes. Educate staff on proper use of server based tools.

Required skills:
  • SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (4+ years) (Red Hat or Ubuntu/Debian experience acceptable)
  • Windows Server administration experience (4+ years)
  • IBM Websphere Application Server management (4+ years)
  • Experience with any of the following products: Websphere Message Queue Manager, Websphere Content Manager, Infosphere Information Server, Cognos BI or IBM Operational Decision Manager
  • Significant experience in Java application development
  • Scripting languages: BASH, Perl, VBScript, BAT, Powershell
  • System automation and provisioning experience: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, SuSE Manager, Spacewalk, or similar products.
  • Experience with managing Linux containers: OpenVZ, LXC, Docker, etc.
  • Strong verbal communication and experience in consulting with senior business SMEs to elicit requirements
  • Strong written, presentation and interpersonal skills

Nice to have skills:
  • z/OS-OS/390-MVS experience
  • z/VM or Hyper-V experience
  • DB2 on Linux, Unix or Windows
  • Experience with Rational Software development tools
