Job Description
  • Maintains and administers computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations
  • Recommends changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes
  • Responsible for trouble shooting server problems as reported by users
  • Uses established change management processes, requiring operational procedures be performed with minimal customer impact
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends software and hardware products
  • Supports Web access and electronic messaging services and maintains a secure systems environment
  • Provides new hardware specifications to users based on application and business needs and anticipated growth, installs new servers and maintains the server infrastructure
  • Defines procedures for monitoring and evaluates, diagnoses and establishes work plan to resolve system issues
  • Performs troubleshooting for complex hardware, software and network problems
  • Works on multiple projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader

BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of management systems
  • Advanced knowledge of evaluation installation/configuration of computer systems and network administration
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2000/2003, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange 2003.
  • Advanced knowledge Microsoft IIS and SQL Server, WebSphere and Apache Tomkat
  • Advanced knowledge of SAN environments
  • Advanced knowledge of hardware and software troubleshooting skills
  • Advanced ability to provide system hardware and software capacity planning

Business Experience
  • 5 to 7 years of related IT work experience

Daily Tasks Performed
  • Provide support for Digital Platform systems by monitoring systems health and troubleshoot/triage system outages
  • Debug Application software including log parsing, and troubleshooting across multiple components on multiple servers
  • Configure, troubleshoot and support applications, perform services restarts when required
  • Perform trouble-shooting and assistance to customers/users for using Digital Platform applications, trouble shoot access issues
  • Accurately document procedures, configurations, trouble descriptions and problem resolution
  • Work with and provide support to developers to implement solutions as needed, release code, and creatively solve problems
  • Respond to alerts in a timely fashion, escalate issues as needed
  • Maintain systems up time of 99.99%

  • Experience working with Windows and Unix environments
  • Experience running simple SQL queries with SQL Server or Oracle Database
  • JIRA and Confluence Experience or similar ticketing and collaboration tools
  • Experience with best practices for change management and code releases. Some exposure to continuous integration and related technologies beneficial
