Job Description:
  • Optimizes database access and allocates/re allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost
  • Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration
  • Assists in setting department policies and strategies on data management issues
  • Assists with performing backup and recovery on Database Management Systems
  • Configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models
  • Defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements
  • Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data
  • Works on multiple projects as a project leader or sometimes as a project advisor
  • Assists with the development of enterprise-wide multi-disciplinary architectural documents translating business data requirements into topographical format
  • Assists with the development of business cases for enterprise-wide data management initiatives as a direct response to business drivers
  • Assists with the development of strategies, policy and standards for corporate data management and contributes to standards working groups

Academic/Experience/Competency:
  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Demonstrates broad understanding of multiple DBMS
  • Demonstrates broad-based knowledge of information technology (e.g., programming, data management, platforms)
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of creating standards and procedures for implementing new database technology
  • Demonstrates an broad knowledge of data management, data stewardship, government-wide data management initiatives and trends in data management and how they can be applied
  • Intermediate ability to support the development of enterprise-wide multi-disciplinary architectural documents translating business data requirements into topographical format
  • Capable in the development of business cases for enterprise-wide data management initiatives as a direct response to business drivers
  • Capable in the development of strategies, policy and standards for corporate data management and contributes to standards working groups
  • Database Architecture/Design
  • SQL Server installation/configuration/administration
  • SQL and Stored-Procedure development and performance tuning in a .NET environment
  • PeopleSoft Admin experience a plus
  • Oracle Database administration experience a plus
  • Prior experience in ETL (Informatica) experience a plus

Business Experience:
  • 5 to 6 years of experience working with various database management systems in database design, testing, implementation, maintenance and administration in a multiple platform environment

Daily Tasks Performed:
  • Design, model, configure, test, and install SQL databases in the test, development and production environments.
  • Perform and troubleshoot database backup, recovery, capacity, and security plans.
  • Administer, maintain, and implement changes to existing databases to meet Customer requirements.
  • Respond to test and production database problems and implement immediate resolution efforts across technology areas.
  • This resource will be working on mission critical applications.
  • Assist developers in performance tuning SSIS, Stored_Procs, imbedded SQL, etc.

Wants:
  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems
  • More than 5 years' experience as a SQL Server DBA
  • 2 years as a database developer
  • Experienced in large scale system implementations and projects
  • 10+ years total IT experience
  • Good communication skills
  • BigData experience is a definite plus!
  • Experience in designing complex database environments for; clustering, partitioning, in-memory, disaster recovery, etc.
  • Excellent communication skill, both oral and written
