Maintenance Technician - Industrial

Industrial Maintenance Technician  
 
Heavy Industrial company in Philadelphia is looking to expand their maintenance team. We have openings on the 1st and 2nd shift for experienced industrial mechanics and technicians. Position offers completive pay, benefits and work environment that is committed to safety.  
 
 
 
Requirements and Responsibilities
  • Under supervision of Maintenance Manager, ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions
  • Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests
  • Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Knowledge and ability to manage critical data in an enterprise asset management platform
  • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks
  • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime hours
  • This job has minimal supervisory duties
 
 
 
Required Skills
  • Education:  High School Diploma or degree from Vocational Technical School
  • 8-years experience in a heavy industrial work environment
  • Valid driver's license
  • Industrial Maintenance Mechanic Skills and Qualifications:  Equipment Maintenance, Technical Understanding, Deals with Uncertainty, Basic Safety, Power Tools, Attention to Detail, Flexibility, Supervision, Job Knowledge, Productivity
  • Good time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed in an efficient manner
  • Good follow through ability: ability to adhere to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth; promotes the Company safety standards; does not take inappropriate risks
  • Maintains a feeling of pride in work; strives to achieve all goals
  • Ability to work within a cohesive team/unit
  • Ability to comprehend, speak and write using the English language
 
Physical Demands/Work Environment
  • Industrial plant setting
  • Walk/stand for extended periods of time (up to 6-hours), on level surface around various process equipment
  • Ability to stoop, stand, squat, climb stairs/ladders and ability to work at heights of 50-feet
  • Use hand/power tools
  • Occasional lifting (up to 100-pounds)
  • Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals, etc.) occasionally
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the work day
