We are looking for a Construction Estimator for an award-winning architecture firm in Hanover, MD. This firm has been in business for over 30 years and has completed many landmark properties from government buildings to commercial public monuments, and multi family high rises.
Estimator shall collect and analyze date in order to estimate the time, money, materials, and labor required to manufacture and construct our products. Estimator shall review drawings and formulate project scopes of work, formulate RFI's, communicate and clarify scope with clients, conduct take-offs and prepare bid and client proposals.
Skills Attributes Required
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem solving skills. Proficient in relevant take-off software (Bluebeam is a plus) Microsoft Office. Proficient in Microsoft excel and or financial bid templates.
Education / Experience Required
Proven experience as an Estimator or similar position. Estimating curtainwall or railings systems a plus.
Certifications / Licenses Required
BC / BA in Engineering, construction science or relevant discipline a plus
Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) will be an asset

Primary Responsibilities
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Prepares construction budget by studying home plans; updating specifications; identifying and projecting costs for each elevation.
  • Evaluates offers to purchase by costing changes, additions, and site requirements.
  • Obtains bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating price.
  • Maintains cost keys and price masters by updating information.
  • Resolves cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
  • Maintains continuity among corporate, division, and local work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
