The superintendent will oversee (independently manage the day-to-day operations) construction of the project in the field. The superintendent provides leadership and direction to all field staff (subcontractors, temp labor, and any other personnel onsite) to ensure the successful completion of all construction on the project. The superintendent is responsible for all onsite quality control and schedule implementation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of the construction project from project start to punch list completion (and certificate of occupancy or certificate of completion).
  • Review and manage all personnel onsite to ensure project is being completed in sequence, per the contract documents/local codes, and within the project time limit.
  • Develop look ahead schedules based off of the master schedule. Distribute look ahead schedules to subcontractors during weekly sub meeting to ensure proper project flow. Manage all weekly subcontractor meetings.
  • Onsite leader of safety program (including toolbox talks) to ensure compliance with all company and government policies and regulations. Take appropriate action in the event of an accident, injury, or citing of an unsafe work practice.
  • Initiate Owner Change Orders.
  • Initiate/Submit RFI's – As applicable due to field conditions.
  • Directly supervise temp laborers and other employees assigned to work on the project. Approve timesheets.
  • Develop a project site logistics plan and lead site orientation meeting with all workers to review.
  • Review and understand material budgets.
  • Negotiate and execute purchase orders for onsite trailers, storage containers, dumpsters, temp toilets, temporary labor and any other site needs.
  • Document and ensure quality control and safety standards to provide a safe work environment for all parties.
  • Track material deliveries to ensure all material arrive on time to meet the required construction sequence.
  • Develop, manage, and implement job specific safety programs and procedures.
  • Complete necessary jobsite visits to meet with owners, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Onsite leader of safety program (including providing weekly toolbox talks on relevant topics determined by Superintendent) to ensure compliance with all company/government/ policies/regulations. Take appropriate action in the event of an accident, injury, or citing of an unsafe work practice including but not limited to halting unsafe practices and removing person/s from jobsite for unsafe behavior/actions (violating safety protocol).
  • Document all job site activity via daily reports. Includes managing drawing revisions and maintaining a field record set. Also includes reporting activity on
  • Maintain a harmonious working relationship with all local inspectors and code enforcement. Obtain all necessary inspections in order to receive all final permit sign offs/certificate of occupancies or certificate of completion
  • Attend all owner meetings as a company field representative.
  • Track all potential change order work via Fulcrum Verification Work Order (VWO).
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Manage all on-site personnel (subcontractors, temp labor, and any other personnel) on a daily basis.
  • Manage any Fulcrum assistant superintendents or project engineers assigned to the site.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience in the retail construction as a Superintendent.
  • At least 3 years of fast food remodel experience as a Superintendent.
  • Proficient in plan reading, construction design, and overall building regulations/laws.
  • Strong, proven ability to successfully manage and provide direction to multiple contractors and vendors (including problem resolution).
  • Ability to read, comprehend and process construction documents (plans, specifications, soil reports, safety manuals, etc.)
  • Technically proficient with typical software applications utilized in the industry (SmartSheet and NoteVault).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, contractors, vendors or employees.
  • Excellent organizational & time management skills. Prioritizes and plans work activities; uses time efficiently, plans for additional resources; organizes or schedules other people and their tasks; Develops realistic actions plans.
  • Scheduling practices with Project Manager
  • Reasoning ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Professional 'field appropriate' appearance and demeanor.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification – can be provided by our Client.
  • 30-hour OSHA Training/Certification – can be provided by our Client.
  • Employee must have and maintain a valid driver's license and must always be in possession of their valid driver's license and required vehicle insurance policy/coverages.
