Shop Foreman

We are looking for an Shop Foreman to oversee the shop department and ensure the proper execution of departmental systems in a high quality, profitable and efficient manner.  This position is fully responsible for the Production department and helps further the company's strategic objective.  The "Shop Department” includes the plant, inventory, and shipping/receiving.

Essential Functions
  1. Make recommendations to management for improving organization and systems for this department that are consistent with the company's strategic objective.
  2. Maintain Clean Shop Initiative and ongoing improvements. 
  3. Manage shop work orders, take responsibility for their deliverables and schedule.
  4. Coordinate daily work schedules with the Production Manager, and lead hands.  Chair the shop meeting.
  5. Update Production Manager on job progress and production problems or requirements.
  6. Monitor and control employee and production efficiency.
  7. Monitor and enforce safety policies in the shop.
  8. Responsible for general shop organization and regular cleanup.
  9. Conduct regular meetings with reporting employees to discuss concerns and needs and to review their systems to make sure all requirements are being fulfilled.
  10. Oversee and monitor QAQC.
  11. Coordinate with Logistic Manager for material deliveries and specifics. Ensure the preparation of all shipping documents and arrangements for transport.
  12. Responsible for the supervision of Saturday work (as required).  If you are not there in person you are fully responsible to arrange appropriate supervision in your absence – with said supervisor reporting directly to you if there are any problems.
  13. Responsible for the purchasing request and inventory of shop consumables.
  14. Organize placement of jobs and materials on shop floor.
  15. Interpret drawings and set job progression and deadlines.
  16. Solve problems related to production.
  17. Complete required documentation for job tracking.
  18. Enforce Shipping Checklist is adhered to and all necessary parts/fasteners are included in shipments to site/warehouse.
  19. Attend the Weekly Operations meetings.
  20. Update Production Manager as requested on work orders.
  21. Liaise with Production Manager Assistant to ensure shop hours are recorded and production documentation is completed and accurate.
  22. On a daily basis, ensure all work orders are posted to the work order board & are implemented, and direction given to shop crew in a timely fashion.
  23. On a monthly basis, conduct safety reviews and reports.

Supervisory Responsibility

The position directly supervises employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience
  1. High school education.
  2. Related experience or training.
  3. 5 Years in leadership role, 3 years minimum shop foreman or team lead.
