PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
  • Working under general direction, the project manager will be responsible for a project of work consisting of interrelated projects designed to execute on a front office data strategy. Responsible for execution of strategy through overall coordination, status reporting, and stability of multiple business solutions projects. Must effectively partner with stakeholders and senior management to ensure the strategic goals and objectives of the project are met and the desired business value is delivered.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project Development and Management
  • Participates with key stakeholders and project team to develop long-term project strategy of a proprietary Investment Front Office data warehouse. Coordinates with SME, architect, system development team, and other Front Office project managers, to develop metrically bound project roadmap and change management materials.
  • Timely and appropriate generation, collection, distribution, storage, retrieval, and ultimate disposition of accurate project information to all stakeholders (senior management, sponsors, stakeholders, and project team) are crucial for the project manager. Working with all stakeholders, they must determine the communication needs of each and make sure information is provided in a timely manner. Performance must be collected, measured, forecasted, and reported at agreed upon times.
  • Actively communicates on a regular basis to stakeholders, senior managers, and the project team. Effectively manages expectations and clearly, concisely, and consistently communicates the strategy, goals, and objectives of the project. Facilitates project status meetings with the project managers and provides status to the sponsor group on an agreed upon frequency. Generates sponsor meeting decks using the standard template and composes and distributes a monthly project newsletter using the standard format.
  • Maintaining a broad view of the project objectives and the organizational culture and processes, develops a stakeholder management plan to keep them engaged and to effectively manage their expectations. Must have extensive experience in managing people of different management levels, skill levels, and cultural backgrounds. Manages and mentors project staff, providing direction, scope, and budget constraints to the project managers and timely and periodic feedback regarding their performance.
  • Project, Scope, Time and Budget Management
  • Responsible for coordinating project plans and team work assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately. Acts as spokesperson for projects outside of the project team. Serves as a consultant and partner to business sponsors to identify and prioritize opportunities for utilizing appropriate technologies to achieve the goals of the Front Office data strategy. Works closely with clients on business change management and business improvement activities and adoption.
  • In conjunction with the business sponsors and stakeholders, develops the project plan consisting of multiple, concurrent projects with multiple deliverables and components. Works proactively with sponsor group to identify, approve, and prioritize all projects and deliverables throughout the lifecycle of the project. Responsible for monitoring and controlling project schedule to ensure timely delivery and communication of risk and impact on potential delays before they occur.
  • Responsible for estimation, approval, and management of the project budget. Oversees and provides direction to project leads, ensuring risk management plans are aligned with the project's strategic goals and objectives and with other projects in the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 + years in the Financial Investments Industry preferred
  • 5 + years of solutions development work experience including managing projects preferred
  • 8 + years of Project Management experience preferred

Required
  • College degree and 6 years of related work experience, or Associate degree and 8 years related work experience, or High School diploma/equivalent and 10 years related work experience
  • College degree in technical area or business
  • At least 10 to 15 years of technology and business/industry work experience with at least 3 years of people management experience and 5 years in managing projects
  • Familiarity with Data Warehouse concepts
  • Prior management experience of a project team and strong leadership ability
  • Proven ability to be strategic, creative, and interested in leveraging technology to solve business problems. Keenly aware of time to market constraints
  • Effectively develops and communicates a business/technology approach to solve business needs
