This position is responsible for architecting and managing the design and implementation of Wi Fi backhaul networks, security platforms and the necessary back-end and front-end software development required for smart grid/city applications. Oversees the monitoring, diagnosis, and support of existing projects. Identifies and implements continuous software improvements to improve systems reliability. Works to ensure a smooth transition of software products into production. These duties are carried out by directing in-house personal and outside contractors and by hands on involvement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyzes and architects complex wireless networks to efficiently communicate with smart grid devices including solar and security assets, mobile device and other related devices. Improves products by suggesting innovative software design, updating documentation, conducting analysis, and characterization.
Analyzes and architects component-based enterprise application in support of clients Network and energy management systems.
Researches technology, competitive products and standards.
Participates in the full software development lifecycle, from software architecting, specifications to design, coding, unit integration testing and software development documentation.
Manages and conducts software analysis, requirements, derivation, reliability studies, and software design verification testing. Analyzes and interprets program test data. Recommends changes in software designs to improve functioning, maintenance, and product performance.
Performs worst case analysis, simulations, and design verification to ensure network software meets the requirements of solar and smart grid applications.
Conducts test, and systems troubleshooting, diagnosis, and root cause analysis of software and systems-level problems. Develops recovery plans and corrective actions.
Develops overall project planning for activities surrounding network software product release including schedules, generating test and qualification plans, and updating specifications.
Oversees the accuracy and maintenance of the full documentation package for all released software products including operator manuals, test procedures, process sheets, and work instructions, etc.
Collaborates with Product Management on requirements and product release activities.
Performs other duties as assigned.

One or two direct reports however will lead a team of network software engineers and software contractors.

This position requires master degree in computer science or related field plus a minimum of four years experience in the design and implementation of distributed and scalable network protocols and client-server services. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of C/C++ and Java, a solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, complexity, multi-threading, synchronization, software design patterns and UI design. This position also requires a good understanding of networking fundamental concepts including OSI, Wi-Fi Meshing, packet queuing, scheduling, and routing and network protocols including TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, and SOCKS. The successful individual should also have experience with network troubleshooting tools including tcpdump and Wireshark, and knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and scripting language such as Python and job scheduler Azkaban. Familiarity with MySQL and Hadoop/Hbase databases is also required.
