Job Description:
The SAFE System Architect

Oversees and designs the entire architectural process from the big picture to the details.
• Maintains control over the architecture lifecycle parallel to the project's software development lifecycle. 
• Works closely with SAFE business and technical staff to design, code, test and implement architectural and framework changes for the SAFE system.
• Communicates design, component function interactions and dependencies to developers
• Is responsible for application security.
• Sets objectives that encapsulate quality attributes of a system. 
• Makes critical recommendations with management that defines a specific direction for a system in terms of implementation, operations, and maintenance.
• Works closely with executives. 

SAFE's legacy system is a PowerBuilder application (version 12.5) and runs against a Microsoft SQL Server Database hosted by the Department of Technology Services (DTS). 

The new .Net SAFE is a production system and includes several important modules. The size of this new SAFE Application will increase significantly in coming years. .Net SAFE utilizes a Single Page Architecture, using JavaScript, MVC and the Kendo Telerik framework. The new SAFE uses the same database as the legacy SAFE system. SAFE communicates with other state systems via web services. SAFE will continue to redesign and move modules into the .Net environment. SAFE will also begin to use mobile technologies.

The Division of Aging and Adult Services (DAAS) utilizes a copy of the SAFE PowerBuilder Application to meet their needs regarding intake and case management. This application points to the same database as the other SAFE applications.

SAFE utilizes an Agile (Scrum) software development methodology.
  • The vendor window to submit bids closes on Wednesday the 9th @ 10:00PM (MST / Utah time)
  • For a bid to be considered, it will include the resources Resume, a vendor Right to Represent document and a completed MMR. MMR is attached in the posting and can be downloaded.
  • Vendor Comments with the resources Availability and Reason why they are interested in the position is helpful
  • As a requirement, Resources will need to complete a State of Utah background check before they can work.
  • Non US citizens with authorization to work in the US will be considered. (i.e. H1b visa holders)
