SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE NEXTGEN ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS SYSTEM FOR THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS (SCDC).

THE SCDC HAS ENTERED INTO A CONTRACT WITH NEXTGEN TO PROVIDE A HOSTED ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORD SYSTEM FOR USE IN ALL 24 CORRECTIONAL INSTITUTIONS AS WELL AS THE CENTRAL OFFICE AND CENTRAL OFFICE ANNEX. NEXTGEN WILL DESIGNATE A PROJECT MANAGER TO WORK WITH SCDC TO DOCUMENT AND EXECUTE AN IMPLEMENTATION PLAN. SCDC IS RECRUITING A FULL TIME EMPLOYEE TO MANAGE THE PROGRAM, BUT IS SEEKING A TEMPORARY PROJECT MANAGER IN THE INTERIM.

DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

MANAGES THE IMPLEMENTATION AND CONTINUED OPERATION OF THE AGENCY'S ELECTRONIC HEALTH
RECORDS SYSTEM AND RELATED HEALTH CARE TECHNOLOGIES.
COORDINATES THE IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS, INCLUDING BUILD, TESTING, TRAINING, AND GO LIVE OF THE EHR
SYSTEM IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE VENDOR.
PLANS AND COORDINATES THE ACTIVITIES OF SCDC TECHNICAL AND CLINICAL STAFF NECESSARY TO FACILITATE IMPLEMENTATION
OF THE EHR SYSTEM.
WORKS WITH MEDICAL AND MENTAL HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS TO EVALUATE CURRENT PROCESSES AND
IMPLEMENT TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS TO REDUCE COSTS AND IMPROVE STAFF EFFICIENCY AND PATIENT CARE.
ASSISTS MANAGEMENT IN ESTABLISHING REPORTING REQUIREMENTS; WORKS WITH VENDOR TO DEVELOP REPORTS FOR
MANAGEMENT AND END USERS.
EVALUATES AND RECOMMENDS EQUIPMENT FOR PURCHASE / LEASE; MANAGES INSTALLATION AND EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE.
ESTIMATES PROGRAM BUDGET AND PERSONNEL REQUIREMENTS.
ESTABLISHES PROJECT GOALS / OBJECTIVES, TIMELINES, AND ASSESSES PROGRESS.

KNOWLEDGE OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT PRINCIPLES AND METHODOLOGIES.
ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY PLAN AND PRIORITIZE WORK ACTIVITIES TO MEET ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS, SCHEDULES, AND DEADLINES.
ABILITY TO CONCEPTUALIZE NEEDED CHANGE AND INITIATE APPROPRIATE ACTIVITIES TO MOVE FROM CONCEPTS TO IMPLEMENTATION.
ABILITY TO MAKE PRESENTATIONS AND PREPARE REPORTS.

PREFERRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
ABILITY TO PLAN AND SUPERVISE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF DATA PROCESSING SYSTEMS TO ACHIEVE SHORT / LONG-TERM OBJECTIVES.
KNOWLEDGE OF ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS SYSTEMS, HEALTH CARE SPECIFIC DATA INTERFACE STANDARDS, AND
HEALTH INFORMATION EXCHANGE TECHNOLOGIES.
KNOWLEDGE OF AGENCY NEEDS AND ABILITY TO INTERPRET RULES AND REGULATIONS.

REQUIRED EDUCATION: A BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, COMPUTER SCIENCE, MATHEMATICS, STATISTICS, INFORMATION SCIENCE, HEALTH ADMINISTRATION, BIOLOGICAL SCIENCE OR A RELATED FIELD AND EXPERIENCE IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY.
