Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife mission
Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife mission is to protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations. Located in beautiful Salem OR, ODFW is seeking a database programmer analyst 1 to assist with the agency Client to Microsoft SQL 2008 R2 application conversion. The work will be to take requirements defined by the application development and business team and write stored procedures, create views, reports, migrate data, optimize database and create C# code to replace the applications that currently reside on the Client mainframe and a VB applications currently running on a desktop. The applications to focus on are the Angler Harvest and collector stamps programs currently residing on Client, user acceptance testing and parallel processing to go live stage. Programmer Analyst Job Description:
Reviews, analyzes, and modifies programming systems including encoding, testing, debugging and installing to support programs for Fish and Wildlife Agency applications currently being re-written in ASP .Net, MVC 4. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Prepares, or receives from systems analyst detailed workflow documents to illustrate sequence of steps that program must follow and to describe input, output, and logical operations involved. Confers with supervisor and representatives of departments concerned with program to resolve questions of program intent, data input, output requirements, and inclusion of internal checks and controls. Converts detailed logical flow chart to C#, MVC 3 and 4, and ASP .Net language. Candidate uses Microsoft Team Foundation Server to manage user requirements, project time estimates and communication with the application development team. May correct program errors using methods such as modifying program or altering sequence of program steps. Will write instructions to guide operating personnel during production runs. Compiles and writes documentation of program development and subsequent revisions. May assist computer operator to resolve problems in running computer programs. Must have experience or training:
* .Net 4.0, 4.5
* ASP.Net MVC 3.0, 4.0
* SQL 2008 R2 experience
* Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 and 2012
Nice to have:
* MS SQL Stored procedures
* TFS 2012
* Agile Scrum SDLC
Programmer capabilities with 2 or more years of experience, relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, performs a variety of complicated tasks.
NOTE: The candidates who will be interviewed will be required to bring a sample of a program written in the last 2 years to explain their method of development, and how the program works.
