SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:
THIS PROJECT IS TO DECOMMISSION OLD MAIL.CLEMSON.EDU APPLICATION. THIS PROJECT IS TO ASSESS THE IMPACT, IDENTIFY THE USERS, COMMUNICATIONS, AND ACTIVITIES SUCH THAT ANY EXISTING USERS HAVE AN OPPORTUNITY TO TRANSITION THEIR DATA TO A SUPPORTED SYSTEM. THE ROLE OF THIS POSITION IS TO BACKFILL EMAIL SUPPORT DURING THE PROCESS AND TO HELP UPDATE DOCUMENTATION FOR NEW SYSTEMS.
Provides technical support for faculty and staff, troubleshooting messaging problems for Exchange and Legacy mail systems. Supports ProofPoint spam filtering, Google Apps for Education email, and Clemson Web Mail. Is a System Administrator for LISTSERV and Sympa email Distribution Lists software applications. Supports faculty, students, and staff with troubleshooting problems for email and distribution lists. Provides documentation, training, and instruction for users to effectively manage mailing list based communication. Analyzes email related problems, recommends, and implements configuration changes in the software based on analysis. Strong customer service skills are important in this position. Participates in the testing and evaluation of new email products and implements prototypes.

REQUIRED SKILLS (RANK IN ORDER OF IMPORTANCE):
EXPERIENCE IN PROVIDING IT SUPPORT, IDEALLY IN A HELPDESK OR DESKTOP SUPPORT ENVIRONMENT.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE EXCHANGE 2010 CLIENT SERVICES, EMAIL, CALENDARING, FOLDER SHARING, AND RESOURCE MAILBOXES.
WORKING UNDERSTANDING OF EMAIL SYSTEMS, DESKTOP, PHONE AND TABLET EMAIL CLIENTS AND THEIR PROTOCOLS.

Desired Skillset:
Experience in providing IT support, ideally in a helpdesk or Desktop support environment.
Technical knowledge Exchange 2010 client services, Email, Calendaring, Folder sharing, and resource mailboxes.

Working Understanding of Email systems, desktop, phone and tablet email clients and their protocols.
Technical knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems. Windows server, Apple OSX, and Linux experience helpful.

  • Ability to provide support to customers and tier 1 support personal via telephone, email and remote control for a range of Email clients and operating systems.
  • Working Knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Basic understanding of PowerShell scripting.
  • Office 365 Experience a plus.
  • Spam filtering knowledge a plus.
  • Familiarity with Sympa and Listserv mailing list software a plus.
Familiarity with Proofpoint a plus.

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE OR A RELATED FIELD WITH EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS PARTICULARLY SUITED TO THE POSTED POSITION; OR HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA AND FOUR YEARS OF EXPERIENCE.
