Data Backup Administrator

Our client in Quincy, MA is looking for a Data Backup Administrator for a 6 month contract.
  • Under the oversight of the solutions architecture manager, the Backup Engineer will ensure that the day-to-day backup routines for the user data on 300+ file, print, application and database servers is backed up daily, stored securely and recoverable utilizing backup Exec, NetBackup Tivoli, and CommVault.
  • The Backup Engineer should have a minimum of 5 years' experience managing backups on an enterprise scale.
  • The Backup Engineer should have a working knowledge of current data disaster recovery practices.
  • The Backup Administrator will: engineer, support, administer and maintain all storage related technology.
  • This includes all storage devices and applicable software (i.e. Tape, Disk, SAN, Backup Systems, etc.) for the entire Secretariat
  • Will also be responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software as it relates to the enterprise backup environment.
  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all backed up data.
  • Daily reporting as it relates to backups is expected.
  • Statewide (MA) travel is required (and reimbursed).

  • Lead and coordinate the engineering phases of storage solutions delivery including planning, design, build, testing, ordering and transition to operational support.
  • Provide analysis, design and direction regarding performance management and capacity planning services with regard to backups.
  • Additionally, the Backup Engineer will work closely with the Systems Engineering and Operations Management in planning and executing upgrades utilizing new technologies while maintaining existing backup systems and services.
