Immediate direct hire role for our client in Farmington, CT for a Network Engineer.
  • Our client is looking for someone focused on Cisco, F5 and Palo Alto technologies.
  • The Senior Technology Systems Analyst position in the Global Network Operations and Technology group has the primary objective to plan, design and implement high-availability networks for multiple business units.
  • The position is technical and requires skill depth in several key network technology areas including; routing, switching, wireless, security and WAN acceleration.
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP, EIGRP, BGP, DMVPN, WCCP, and QoS is required.
  • The successful candidate must be capable of testing new technology in a lab environment and writing architecture and deployment guides for the business.
  • The position includes 3rd level support escalation and on-call off-hours support on a five-week rotational basis.
  • It may require some domestic and international travel, as well as occasional weekend and holiday work.
  • Some heavy lifting, up to 70 pounds, may be required.
Principal Responsibilities:
  1. Configure Cisco routers for various WAN technologies, including; MPLS, private line, and Dynamic Multiport VPN (DMVPN). Have a strong working knowledge of access control lists and route maps.
  2. Configure and support Cisco Catalyst switches. Should have good working knowledge of; VLANs, trunking, EtherChannel, and UTP/fiber cabling standards. Experience with Cisco Nexus platform would be a plus.
  3. Ability to manage numerous projects, tasks and other assigned work efficiently. Key requirement is the ability to prioritize critical deliverables while meeting all other assigned duties.
  4. Contribute to standards-based and scalable architecture/design of systems for global deployment.
  5. Install and support wireless LANs using secure authentication methods on plant floors and administrative areas.
  6. Install and configure Cisco WAE/WAVE WAN acceleration devices and troubleshoot client to server performance issues.
  7. Have a strong working knowledge of and experience managing DNS and DHCP protocols.
  8. Ability to troubleshoot complex performance problems involving network and application teams using Netflow and packet capture tools.
  9. Partake in the after-hours support rotation with other GNS members.
  1. The position requires an independent thinker and worker that can operate in multiple countries with minimal guidance/direction.
  2. 4 year college degree preferably a technical degree (Computer Science or Engineering)
  3. Cisco Certifications preferred CCNA, CCNP
  4. 5+ years hands-on experience with Cisco routers and switches
  5. Strong project management experience
