Laboratory Supervisor NEEDED ASAP NEAR Langhorne, PA. 


The ideal candidate will have a strong background of working in a large volume clinical laboratory. This position requires initiative, technical excellence, attention to detail and flexibility. Candidates should be prepared to assist in the training of sales staff, accompanying sales staff on sales calls to clients, and educating clients and staff on the different modalities and practices of diagnostic testing, along with education on new test offerings. Responsibilities and Duties

  • The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for testing and reporting clinical laboratory results, as well as providing supervision for the Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLTs) and Laboratory Assistants (non-licensed personnel)
  • Communicate with accounts and clients regarding clinical questions regarding results or testing methodology
  • Assist laboratory manager with inventory
  • Selects, implements, and evaluates results for Quality Control materials used in statistical process control of laboratory assays.
  • Troubleshoots assays and equipment for which QC materials fail to perform adequately.
  • Participates in activities required to support all necessary licensure for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on-site inspections. (CLIA, CAP)
  • Responsible for maintaining updated understanding and knowledge of the methods employed in the laboratory and the use of the resulting information by physicians through experience and continuing education activities.
  • Trains other personnel in laboratory methods. May be required to supervise the activities of the laboratory in the absence of laboratory manager.
  • May be required to assist in assay development activities. The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results.
  • Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
  • Follow laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results;
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, established policies and procedures, and document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.

Qualifications and Skills

  • ASCP certification preferred
  • At least one (1) year of supervisory experience
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with detailed procedures that ensure the safety of all
  • Must be flexible to work different shifts, such as Saturdays and evenings based on the needs of the lab
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently, following detailed work instructions, and as part of a cohesive team that together completes daily sample intake and processing in a timely manner
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties to meet timelines
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills are essential
