Specifically, as a Virology Research Scientist, the incumbent will report directly to the Head of Virology and will support projects related to discovery of new vaccine candidates. The incumbent is expected to have a background in vaccines and molecular virology and will be expected to organize and execute day-to-day research activities with supervision from the team leader. Therefore, strong technical, organizational, and communication skills are essential.
  • Perform tissue culture of immortal cells, grow and prepare virus stocks.
  • Assist in the characterization of vaccine candidates by routinely perform molecular biology techniques such as RNA extractions, RT-PCR, Sanger sequencing. and DNA sequence analysis.
  • Assist the team's molecular cloning efforts by applying molecular biology techniques like transformations and pDNA preparations.
  • Operate laboratory and experimental equipment such as spectrophotometers, ultracentrifuges etc.
  • Work collaboratively with other team members to accomplish project goals and milestones.
  • Routinely track and document results in laboratory notebooks and databases.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results in team meetings.
  • A BC degree in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or related science discipline is required
  • Some background in molecular virology and vaccine with basic experience in recombinant DNA technologies.
  • Familiarity with diverse software packages for cloning and sequence alignment.
  • Must be highly motivated while also possessing exceptional communication and teamwork skills.
  • Good foundation in general scientific practice, principles, and concepts of discipline.
  • Basic knowledge of GMP/GLP regulations in cGMP/cGLP manufacturing environment preferred.
