LIFE SCIENCES Equipment &Facilities Manager in Washington, DC.

This position serves as the facilities manager for a University in Washington, DC. Coordinating daily projects and managing specific operational activities pertaining to the support of the life sciences. Reporting directly to the Director, Facilities Administration and Information Technology for the College of Arts and Sciences, this position works with College and University partners an provides specialized technical expertise in the evaluation of life sciences facility problems and the general maintenance thereof, requiring knowledge of lab, science, and environmental equipment (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) found in an academic facility as well as safety procedures. Additionally, this position is responsible for preparing and developing justification for proposals, including identification of alternatives for life sciences facility systems and equipmentfor review of management. Oversees purchasing activities, inventory, asset management, and equipment operations in support of research and classroom related needs.

Supervisory Responsibility

No leadership responsibility. Coordinates and reviews the work of others.

Work Environment

The worker normally performs their job indoors in an office environment. The worker normally performs their job in a plant, laboratory or other environment where personal protective equipment may be necessary.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science or equivalent
  • 3-5 Years of relevant experience

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree or equivalent
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • The position requires the ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals, to plan effectively and strategically, and to solve complex issues in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Knowledge of science facility and equipment maintenance and operations, electrical systems, and information systems' operation and functionality is essential.
  • Project management experience and experience with building and facility construction principles and concepts is preferred.
