Clinical Cancer Cytogeneticist

We are seeking a Clinical Cancer Cytogeneticist to share responsibilities for this essential laboratory dedicated to the detection of acquired chromosomal abnormalities associated with hematological malignancies and solid tumors.
  • The successful candidate will share sign-out responsibilities with the Director, assist in laboratory management and new test development based on medical/scientific advances, as well as teach residents, fellows, and graduate students.
  • Specific responsibilities will include daily review of cases, karyotype, FISH and CGH array interpretation, report writing for all sample types (blood, bone marrow, fresh and paraffin embedded tissues), and communication and prompt follow-up with referring physicians.
  • The test menu includes chromosome analysis (G-banding and multicolor metaphase analysis), fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) analysis using over 100 probes and CGH+SNP microarray analysis.
  • The candidate will have the ability to conduct a research program, or collaborate with basic and clinical researchers throughout the company. The Pathology Department is a rapidly growing, dynamic, progressive academic department committed to managing knowledge and improving patient care.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills are required. Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D.
  • Board-certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics in Clinical Cytogenetics
  • Must have at least three to five years of experience.
  • Must be highly organized and self-directed individual, who works well in a complex and dynamic environment.
