Purchasing and Inventory Manager

This position is responsible for managing the activities of the purchasing and inventory areas and to purchase supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while maintaining the lowest possible inventory levels.
  • Manage and control all external suppliers/vendors with emphasis on the purchase of materials and equipment required for laboratory processes.
  • Ensure materials are bought at the most competitive price and delivered on time for production and use.
  • Establish relationships with key suppliers/vendors.
  • Identify new suppliers/vendors, agree to terms and negotiate agreements when appropriate, including discount structure.
  • Build close working relationships with associated departments (sales, R&D, lab ops).
  • Continually improve purchasing methods to drive down external spend.
  • Manage year-end physical inventory process.
  • Maintain tracking log of Lab, R&D, IT, Field and Point of Sale: ETA, backorders, delivery confirmation, invoice status and pack slip confirmation.
  • Implement and utilize the Point of Sale system.
  • Hire, train and manage warehouse personnel.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 3+ years purchasing experience required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Office, specifically MS Excel.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to handle a wide work variety and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be a detail-oriented, organized, self-starter, and have an ability to prioritize workload.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and solve practical problems.
