POSITION OVERVIEW
Position Title Community Engagement Intern

Position Description This position is within the Interpretation, Education, and Visitor Services division of CuyahogaValley National Park. The Community Engagement Intern assists in the collection and compilation of input that will inform the park's Community Access Plan. Employing the concepts of Audience Centered Experiences, the intern will introduce the park and concepts from the Plan to park visitors and community members, solicit and record their input, and compile a report of all input received.
Learning Goal The intern will learn skills in Interpretation, Audience-Centered Experiences, Visitor Services,Community Engagement, Operational Leadership
Qualifications Coursework in communication, natural or cultural resources, social science would be helpful.Outgoing and able to engage in conversation with a variety of people.

Participants must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent legal resident ( "green-card-holder) and currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree program at an accredited institution of higher education during the summer internship.
Additional qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled or recent graduate of an accredited HBCU institution
  • Must be between 16 and 30years of age
  • Must be U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or U.S. national
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check
  • Must be fully vaccinated
Work Environment Combination of office and field, and travel to meetings and activities/event booths in Cleveland.Weather in the summer can be hot and humid. Precautions should be taken for ticks and poison ivy.
Vehicle/License Requirement A personal vehicle is needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation is at a rate of $15.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.
