Position Description This position would assist with NCPTT's research documenting the last standing RosenwaldSchools in Louisiana. This will involve doing 3D laser scanning and 360 photography of these buildings to make 3D models.
This internship will work as part of a team to document the last 13 Rosenwald Schools that are still standing in the state of Louisiana. For this documentation the team will conduct laser scans of the existing structures as well as take 360 photographs and photogrammetric tours. The Intern will work in the field to help conduct the documentation.
Learning Goal The intern will learn how to do laser scanning, 360 photographic documentation, and digitaldocumentation..
Qualifications We are looking for a student that is computer savvy and interested in learning 3D laser scanning hardware and software. NCPTT can train the intern in how to operate the laser scanner and software if they already have computer skills. It would be important for the student to have some knowledge of historic architecture but not essential. The most important need is an interest in learning digital documentation.

Participants must be a U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent legal resident ( "green-card-holder) and currently enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. degree program at an accredited institution of higher education during the summer internship.
Additional qualifications:
  • Must be currently enrolled or recent graduate of an accredited HBCU institution
  • Must be between 16 and 30years of age
  • Must be U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or U.S. national
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check
  • Must be fully vaccinated
Work Environment Generally this internship will be in the field documenting historic structures. Many of these structures are abandoned and this documentation is the first line to saving them. The job will alternate between in the field gathering and back in the office to process the scan data.
Vehicle/License Requirement A personal vehicle is not needed.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Compensation is at a rate of $15.00 per hour, 40 hours per week.
