Location: Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Monument

Agricultural Complex at the Texas White House Ranch
  • Identify opportunities where the park's rangeland and livestock can be used in STEM based curriculum programs.
  • Identify various STEM based tools and techniques that the Ag industry is using to increase productivity, reduce resource demands, and promote sustainability.
  • Identify various STEM based tools/techniques that the natural resource community is using to conserve, preserve, and restore natural/cultural resources similar to those found within the park.
Dark Skies and Aerospace
  • Continue to expand on research that impact dark skies
  • Develop talking points for programming for the Division of Interpretation, Education and Volunteers
  • Develop a curriculum-based program for the Hill Country Science Mill partnership on dark skies and LBJ's legacy.
Emerging Technology & Communication
  • Connect LBJ's use of technology in the Texas White House to today by researching and developing innovative and creative ways to talk about this topic with the public. 
Learning Goals:
 
The research conducted during this internship will influence education and interpretive programming & curriculum and help the park continue to grow its partnership with the Hill Country Science Mill, regional school districts, and other education partnerships throughout the Texas Hill Country.
 
Qualifications:
  • Must be between 16 and 35 years of age
  • Must be U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or U.S. national
  • Must be able to pass a federal background check
Vehicle/License Requirement:

A personal vehicle is required for this site. A valid state driver's license is required to operate a government vehicle while conducting official government business.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Compensation is at a rate of $15 per hour, 40 hours per week.
  • A housing assistance stipend is provided for non-local interns
