PROGRAM OVERVIEW Greening Youth Foundation in partnership with the U.S. National Park Service are providing opportunities for students from schools around the country with unique skills and talents to work in preserving the contributions of our nation's history and culture. Participants gain real-world, on-the-job experience as they explore federal careers in the U.S. National Park Service.

POSITION OVERVIEW Position Title Everglades National Park Interpretation Internship NPS Unit Name Everglades National Park - Homestead, FL. Position Start Date November 18, 2019 Position Description Research's the natural and cultural resources within Everglades National Park and the greater Everglades ecosystem, and use this information to educate park visitors on important resource topics. Develops and presents a variety of formal interpretive programs to diverse audiences. Programs include formal interpretive talks and guided hikes. Programs are developed according to the National Park Service's interpretive development standards. Roves busy trails and informally educates visitors about important resource topics such as Everglades ecology and biology, invasive species, Everglades restoration etc. Operates the park's main visitor center, staffs the information desk, open and close facilities following established procedures. Record and compiles visitor statistics. Monitor supplies and restocks brochures and other informational material. Operate audiovisual equipment. Display exceptional visitor services by going out of the way to greet the public, access and meet visitor needs and expectations. All public interaction is conducted with enthusiasm, flexibility, tolerance, and patience. Work is performed in all types of weather conditions including high heat and humidity.

Qualifications: Must have a willingness and interest in working with the visiting public.
Ability to communicate complex information to audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

Additional qualifications: Must be between 16 and 35 years of age, must be U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident or U.S. national, and must be able to pass a federal background check

Work Environment: Work is carried out in both indoor and outdoor environments. All indoor work is in air-conditioned, climate-controlled environments. All outdoor work during the summer months is subject to high heat, humidity and regular thunderstorms and rain.

Vehicle/License Requirement A valid driver's license is required. The student may operate government vehicles. Students that are in this position must carry a valid state issued ID with them at all times. State issued driver's license is required.

Compensation and Benefits Compensation is at a rate of $15 per hour & Weekly $40 transportation stipend

Qualify for federal non-compete hiring after meeting service requirements.
