Position Description and Responsibilities Opportunity:
GYF seeks a Warehouse Intern at the Everglades National Park (ENP), Pine Island Building, located at 40001 State Road 9336, Homestead, Florida, which is approximately 30 minutes from the downtown city of Homestead.  
Position Tasks:
The purpose of the position is to provide services for mail, shipping/receiving (warehousing) and filing.  The intern will be provided with a government vehicle to drive to different locations in the park to deliver mail.
The intern will be under the supervision of a Property Manager.
Mail Support Services:  
·         Performs mail handling and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail including:  Opening, date stamping, and sorting, routine mail into correct internal mail boxes, checking all incoming correspondence, reading mail that is undesignated, and determining proper routing by subject matter content.
Also, weighing the mail (including large envelopes), updating the postage meter, processing outgoing mail, collecting and mailing out correspondence to outlying areas, issuing postage to outlying areas, and forwarding mail to employees no longer working at the park.  Maintaining logs or records of special items received and/or distributed, i.e. checks.
·         Provides pickup and delivery services of mail (i.e. FedEx packages, etc.) to/from the Contracting, and Property Management Branch, to the Headquarters Building, Daniel Beard Center (and other buildings as needed).
·         Maintains appropriate stock levels of materials, supplies, furnishings and all associated equipment (i.e., postage meter)
Shipping/Receiving (Warehousing):  
·         Ensures incoming items are immediately, accurately and legibly logged into the pickup log.
·         Notifies end users daily, prior to COB that they have items awaiting pickup, and then follows up with end users for items not picked up within 72 hours.
·         Identifies recipients of unknown packages within 24 hours of receipt.
·         Ensures large items awaiting pickup are stored safely and securely in the warehouse or bay.
Centralized Filing Support Services:
·         Performs filing work, including the establishment, maintenance, control, protection, and disposition of records.
·         Maintains appropriate stock levels of materials, supplies, furnishings and all associated equipment (i.e., folders, labels, etc.).
·         Operates a personal computer and other office machines (i.e. fax, etc.), performs typing assistance of narrative material (i.e., correspondence, reports, memorandum, rosters, forms, etc.) from clean copy or rough draft.
General Office Support:  
·         Provides general office support and miscellaneous support services to the Administrative Division, on an, as needed bases.  Examples includes, making copies of documents for training programs, creating/editing training slides, handouts, maintaining training rosters, organizing/planning special events, assisting with spreadsheets and databases, etc.
Qualifications The successful candidate should be able to do the following:
Knowledge of Warehousing supplies materials, and equipment.  Knowledge of packing, palletizing, stacking, and correctly placing and arranging items in storage.  Ability to prepare written documentation (lo.Client, coding sheets, etc.) 9nd effective communication orally and in writing.  Knowledge of computer¿¿r operation and software including: Windows Operating System, Word, processing, database and spreadsheets. 
Work Environment Work requires physical exertion, lifting heavy objects.  Additionally the intern will, on a recurring basis, walk, bend, crouch, ·stretch, reach or perform similar physical activities. Sedentary work is required while performing clerical tasks.
Work is performed in a warehouse or adequate office space; ·however, work may be performed in a variety of locations, both inside and out-of-doors. Work occasionally involves moderate risks· associated with job sites. Safety precautions will be required.
Vehicle/License Requirement The successful candidate must have a valid state driver's license.  The intern will be provided with a government vehicle to drive to different locations in the park to deliver mail.
Compensation and Benefits The selected applicant will be compensated at a rate of $15 per hour. A transportation stipend of $40 a week for 16 weeks will also be provided to the successful candidate.
