Position Description and Responsibilities
Want to make a difference and work with a highly experienced team of IT professionals? This is a once in a life time opportunity as an IT intern for Everglades, Biscayne and Dry Tortugas National Park. The internship starts Sept. 23, 2019 and will be for 6 months with the possibility of extending for another 6 months. You will receive on-the-job training in IT helpdesk management, systems administration, software integration, as well as learning opportunities in cyber security.  Moreover, you will be:
·       Installing approved software on client computers
·       Creating images of computers and cloning them
·       Configuring and installing security VPN applications
·       Computer Encryption using McAfee software and DAR
·        Management and configuring desktop and laptop computers
·        Learning what VoIP is and how to setup Cisco phones
·        Expected to perform on team projects and work independently
 
This internship is a 40 hour/week job with occasional night and weekend work. The right candidate will be detail-oriented, hardworking, and ready for the adventure of a lifetime!
 
 
 
Qualifications
The following skills and physical requirements are listed below:
·         Strong communication skills
·         Typing skills
·         Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
·         Work outside running cables
·         Computer skills
 

 
 
 
Work Environment
While we often focus on the natural beauty of these parks, we shouldn't forget about safety. There are many outdoor hazards to keep in mind such as working in remote locations, high heat, high humidity, and intense sunshine. There's also the potential for exposure to four kinds of venomous snakes and many biting insects. However, with the right training, planning, and equipment you will be more aware of your surroundings.
Vehicle/License Requirement A valid driver's license is required. You will need your own vehicle to drive to Everglades National Park headquarters and to Biscayne National Park located in Homestead, Florida.
 
 
Compensation and Benefits
$15/hour. Intern will receive a $40 transportation stipend. A Greening Youth Foundation uniform will be provided. Park housing is not available.
