Title: Project Engineer, 18-00114
Location: Somersworth, NH
Duration: 3 Months
Responsible for planning and executing the activities of cross functional teams including engineering hardware, firmware, software and systems design teams in conjunction with other organizational stakeholders (Product Management, Operations, Product Marketing, Quality Assurance, Account Management, and Product Support) in the development of client' products.
Essential Functions:
  • Provide Project Management support to engineering management in organizing and executing the development projects of new products and systems solutions that meet customer requirements. Support proposal efforts in the area of engineering project scheduling and team requirements definition.
  • For new product and system developments, support Marketing management in orchestrating the definition of functional requirements, insuring product-cost and project schedules meet market needs. Develop and maintain the engineering project schedule, provide support to Engineering Management by leading Product Design Reviews.
  • Support Program and Marketing Management through the oversight of engineering development of customer specific products and system applications. Minimize risk to the Company by insuring engineering development efforts remain on schedule and within cost targets.
  • Responsible for the release, in accordance with the approved engineering procedures, to production of all necessary drawings, design specifications and other internal and customer documentation for new products and systems on assigned development projects.
  • Support the product development and test personnel during Alpha, Beta, First Article, Product and System Acceptance tests of new products and systems.
  • Assigned projects are diverse in nature requiring initiative and judgment in determining appropriate actions. Will make technical and project review presentations to Senior Management and to customer decision makers
  • Plans and manages the activities of engineering hardware, software and systems design teams in the development of Aclara's communications systems and products.
  • Plans, organizes and monitors the completion of requirement definitions, functional specifications, product design specifications, design documents, and system and technical architecture definition.
  • Plans, organizes and monitors the development and product/system testing to insure completion of the product or system on schedule and within budget.
  • Utilizes project management tools to estimate and plan development projects, monitor project cost and progress, report project status and hold project reviews.
  • Effectively mitigate project risks and create opportunities for project execution enhancements · Lead the project teams to execute the NPI process tollgates and reviews.
  • Support NPI process improvements and implementation
  • Oversee and support procurement of 3rd party resources used for development or as partner. Monitor and manage the deliverables from these 3rd parties.
 Additional Responsibilities:
  • Maintain up to date with current best management practices, changes.
  • Identify future trends and advise management of best ways to implement change.
  • Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
Skills Required
  • Excellent multi-task, multi-project organizational skills
  • Excellent presentation, oral and written communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented, with exceptional team building and project management skills,
  • Intermediate knowledge working with Microsoft Office and other related software utilizing a Windows platform.
  • PMI/PMP Certification.
  • Experience working in a matrix environment, coordinating across multiple sites.
Experience Required
  • 8 years of project management experience.
Education Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
