Title: Hardware Data Centre Technician - 17-00695
Location: Denver, CO
Duration: 12 Months
We are looking for a Hardware/Data Center Technician to support our software development lab systems and data centers. In this role, you will be very hands-on with SolidFire's all-flash storage solution, development servers, and diverse networking environments. You will work closely with our Systems Operations Engineers (systems administration/developers) and Network Engineers to support SolidFire's datacenters. You will also interact with our software development and test engineering teams to support their infrastructure needs. This is a position on a close-knit team with excellent growth opportunities in a very exciting, high-growth segment of the tech industry.¿
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide hands on support of our equipment in our main datacenter in downtown Denver
  • Manage installation and maintain structured cabling system
  • Rack & stack of lab hardware
  • Work with our ticket system
  • Meticulously document and maintain accurate records and document all problems
  • Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in facilities systems
  • Assist data center employees with management of all lab equipment, handle breaks/fixes and determine root cause failure reason
  • Perform routine hardware repairs, replacements, as well as upgrades to existing hardware while causing minimal, if any, downtime for users and clients
  • Support the automation our "state of health " monitoring tools (coordinating with our DevOps and Automation Engineering teams)
  • Provide server maintenance, management, and provisioning for end users
  • Coordinate with system administration engineering and network engineering teams to support systems
  • Document standard procedures, change control records, RCAs, and other communication mediums
  • Physically transport equipment between our Denver and Boulder sites and install servers typically weighing 40-45lbs in data center racks
  • Participate in a team-wide on-call support rotation
  • 1-2 years of experience in a data center, critical uptime environment, or equivalent technical training
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize and understand the uses of commodity hardware such as CPU, memory, hard drives, network interface cards, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks
  • Successful candidates will have knowledge of hardware systems, networking concepts, and basic Linux, VMWare and Windows systems
  • Knowledge of networking technologies, systems, and circuits
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with team members and end users
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to lift 60lbs
  • Ability to manage multiple requests, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
  • Possess a creative mind that is always looking to improve services and environment by taking initiative to better serve the end users as well as the data center team
  • Ability to identify issues before they arise and take actions to correct them
