MUST:
Cassandra - Senior Software Engineer - DataStax Managed Cloud - Big Data Architect
5+ years customer-facing experience in experience managing and coordinating relationships across large, enterprise organizations
3+ years proven hands-on and design experience with two or more major cloud platforms
(GCP, AWS, Azure)
7+ years software design / engineering experience
7+ years experience with database technologies
Advanced understanding of system architecture and software design principles
Effective facilitator of technical decisions. Comfortable with working through ambiguous
initiatives to develop effective solutions.
Experience with high volumes of data using relational RDBMS and fundamental knowledge
of ACID transactions
Hands on experience with Apache Solr, Apache Spark, or Graph Databases (e.g. Titan, Neo4j)
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Able to travel up to 25% of the time
Preferred
Certification(s) on one or more major cloud platform (GCP, AWS, Azure).
Knowledge of datacenter architecture in a production environment
Knowledge of multi-datacenter / global deployments and distributed architectures
Experience migrating a monolithic application to a cloud-based micro-service architecture

DUTIES:
This position is hands-on with Cassandra/Datastax Enterprise technologies.
Will work with architecture, engineering, application development and cross-functional
operations teams to:
Drive high levels of engagement through enablement, discovery, design and solution
positioning sessions.
Become a trusted advisor for customer technical and management teams.
Leverage existing cloud architecture knowledge and forward looking research to enable
DataStax customers and drive the design of complex cloud and hybrid cloud data driven
solutions for them.
Proactively engage with Solution Engineers and Solution Architects to design customer
solutions.
Install new database releases and related software tools to evaluate in test/dev
environments, eventually promote to production.
Monitor availability, performance and utilization of production and development Cassandra
databases, analytics and search server environments
Analyze and resolve complex technical problems, including performance tuning, and
debugging
Monitor database backups and maintain automated disaster recovery procedures
Plan database and server level capacity according to statistics and user requests
Coach and mentor junior resources in Cassandra best practices
