The experienced Ophthalmic Technician will have experience performing preliminary eye function testing and explaining to patients about both medications and procedures
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Excellent telephone and customer service skills
Ability to use both Windows and non-based Windows programs and/or computerized tablets with ease and proficiency
Ability to work independently but also work effectively with others as a team to accomplish objectives and goals
Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and follow schedules

Slit-lamp examination including accurate IOP measurement, critical examination of the cornea, anterior chamber, and lens
Greet patient and introduces self-prior to eye exam in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner
Explain to patient what should be expected from technician work up and from the physician
Verifies patient information by interviewing patient, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of visit
Slit-lamp examination including accurate IOP measurement, critical examination of the cornea, anterior chamber, and lens
Able to properly operate common non-automated and automated ophthalmic equipment including, but not limited to: IOL Master, bright field acuity testing (BAT), Endothelial Cell Counts, Corneal Pachymetries, Optical Coherence Tomographies (OCT), Humphrey Visual Fields (HVF), Heidelberg Retinal Tomographies (HRT), tonometer/tono-pen, and manual refractions.
Neutralizes eye glasses by either manual lensometry or automated lensometry
Administer eye drops under physician supervision while utilizing proper sterile technique
Provide patients with instructions based on the information provided by the physician and supply with available patient education materials
Responsible for the care, maintenance, and stocking of examination rooms as well as cleaning and maintaining all instruments
Conform to all HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality
Operate basic office equipment
