Howard Systems has an opening for a Production Database Administrator located in Swedesboro, NJ.

The Production DBA position supports and maintains the databases used by our manufacturing and distribution facility in NJ. The role requires being a vital technical resource, with hands-on system debugging and troubleshooting capabilities, working closely with the business leaders and end-users. The position is located in Swedesboro, NJ and reports to the Global ERP Manager..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains several database environments; applies updates, maintenance packs, patches, & fixes for all environments.
  • Performs application upgrades.
  • Maintains and manages database reporting infrastructure.
  • Monitors server performance and recommends changes as needed.
  • Maintain all DB environments.
  • Refreshes databases as needed.
  • Performs database administration activities including, but not limited to; installation, configuration, monitoring, space management, database backup and recovery, and disaster recovery.
  • May perform installation, configurations, and maintenance for clustered database servers.
  • Plans and performs database server upgrades.
  • Writes and reviews stored procedures
  • Act as backup for local IT system support

Experience/Skills Required:
  • Must have 5 years of experience with SQL Database Administration.
  • Must have experience with databases hosted by Microsoft Azure.
  • Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Reporting Services
  • Microsoft Access
  • Able to write and optimize complex queries.
  • Advanced knowledge of database administration, Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and systems analysis procedures.
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
  • Strong working knowledge of database software and operating systems.
  • Experience collaborating with developers on database design within the framework of project work.
  • Must be highly organized and an effective and efficient communicator
  • The ability to respond to critical system outages and provide PIR (post incident reporting) to CIO, root cause analysis.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing and/or distribution environments is a plus
Advantageous (but not essential)
  • Infor SyteLine ERP or other ERP related applications
  • Bartender or similar label management software
  • Software development experience (.Net Framework, VB to support label management software)

Minimum Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in information technology, computer science, software engineering or related discipline
  • Microsoft Certified Database Administrator (MCDBA) a plus.
