Job Description: Dev Ops -Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

· Experience with agile development and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
· Provide expert level guidance on use of POIT solutions including private and public cloud platforms
· Design and implement infrastructure architectures optimized for performance, reliability, scalability, security and cost
· Produce cost estimates for production service based on infrastructure and network requirements
· Develop and implement non-functional requirements using and/or contributing to standard HERE solutions with a focus on broad re-use across products and services
· Ensure software releases are production ready by collaborating with software engineers and release managers to configure and execute appropriate performance, load, technical/stability and forking tests
· Leverage CI/CD best practices and Test Automation Orchestration frameworks to automate testing wherever possible
· Lead the effective monitoring of all aspects of system and application monitoring ensuring compliance with SLA definitions and operational performance requirements
· Input to capacity planning for upstream and downstream service dependencies
· Create and maintain accurate support documentation
· Lead identification and implementation of critical patches and upgrades to open source and third-party software including OS, web components, etc.
· Maintain accurate configuration and dependency data
· Participate as a member of the Systems Engineering and Technical community to continuously improve and evolve best practices and technical solutions
· Continuously drive service quality improvements by undertaking thorough root cause analysis and leading corrective actions directly and as part of the release cycle
· Proactively monitor service metrics seeking out potential issues before impact to production service levels
· Identify and diagnose incidents including performance and scalability issues
· Provide tier 3 level support – participating on a 24x7 call rotation as agreed
· Follow HERE operational processes ensuring auditability and compliance with ISO standards
· Continually evaluate service and infrastructure usage to effectively manage performance, capacity and cost – automating solutions wherever possible
· Manage and maintain current certs and licenses




Skills/Experience Required
· Experience with agile development and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
· Software engineering background with a passion for delivering high-performance, quality software
· Able to write code with programming / scripting languages to automate repeatable processes and develop/enhance standard solutions (e.g., Python, Go, Ruby, Java, JavaScript, C++)
· Practical knowledge of container solutions (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Mesosphere)
· Skills / knowledge in Infrastructure as a Service / Cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google, etc.)
· Experience delivering and supporting PaaS and SaaS solutions at scale
· Application Build & Deployment Automation Concepts & Tools (e.g., Puppet, Ansible, Chef, Salt, Fabric, etc.)
· Familiar with Build Tools & Platforms (e.g., ANT, Electric Commander, Jenkins, Maven, etc.)
· Familiar with Source Control Systems (e.g., Mercurial, Subversion, GIT, etc.)
· Experience with Workload automation & scheduling tools (ControlM, BPM, Cron, Amazon Simple Workflow, etc.)
· Knowledge of Network Concepts & Configurations (Load Balancing, Firewalls, Port Standards, SSH, etc.)
· Knowledge of Storage Platforms, Concepts & Configurations (NFS, SSD, S3, RAID, HDFS, etc.)
· Knowledge of Security and Privacy best practices
· Linux administration (CentOS, Ubuntu)
· Test framework experience (e.g., JMeter, Cucumber, Selenium)
· Excellent debugging / problem solving skills – including ability to investigate and remedy software bugs if necessary
· Experience of development and implementation of backup and recovery procedures
· Knowledge of issue tracking tools (e.g., Remedy, JIRA, etc.)
· Very strong communication and teamwork skills
· Highly reliable and keen to take responsibility for service quality
