Job Description:

Backstop is a Chicago based company that makes web-based software applications for hedge funds and the people who invest in them. Over the last few years, we have grown considerably, won several awards, and built a lot of great software. Backstoppers take our customers and our service very seriously, but pride ourselves on not taking ourselves too seriously in the process.
We want your help to find the weak spots in our software so that we can make it even better. To find these weak spots, you will be able to use both your creative and analytical side, making every day an interesting challenge.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Ideally you will have some skills in testing software, and testing methodologies.
  • You need to have a good eye for detail, being able to spot inconsistencies.
  • You need to be a good communicator, both verbally and in writing. You'll be writing tests, writing bug reports, and sometimes having to explain both.
  • You need a willingness to learn new concepts and ideas.
  • You will be working with developers on test-driven development.
  • You should be self-motivated and look for ways to consistently improve testing.
  • You should be comfortable working by yourself and in groups.
  • You should enjoy solving problems and tracking bugs down.
Required Experience:
  • You must have a degree from an accredited institution.
  • You have experience working with UI languages like Javascript, CSS, and HTML.
  • You have experience in cross-browser testing of web applications and UI testing.
  • You have basic knowledge of REST API, SQL and DB scripting.
  • You are comfortable using a packet analyzer tool like Wireshark, Postman, and/or Fiddler.
  • You are comfortable using Linux or Unix as the primary work platform.
  • Test automation experience is preferred especially using Selenium Webdriver or REST
  • Previous experience with Agile development.
