Engineering Lab Technician

Position Overview: 
Zee team is a part of Unicorn whose goal is to create foundational services and experiences for kids. Zee team's mission is to assist, educate, and delight kids by bringing our client's services into the physical world around them. Toward that, we are working on prototyping and testing an interactive physical device for young children that will help them learn though play. As we broaden our scope to go from 30 min onsite to multi-week in-home testing, we are looking for a lab tech who can help with maintaining our hardware lab, device assembly, hardware debugging, device management, etc. 

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities: 
  1. Manage and maintain the hardware/electronics lab 
  2. Assemble and troubleshoot custom built devices 
  3. Device prep and QA for special events and user studies 

Overall Responsibilities: 
  • Inventory control of equipment and electronics components 
  • Inventory control of devices (phones, tablets, laptops, dev boards, etc.) 
  • Soldering and reworking PCBs if/when needed 
  • Maintain a flash station and keep devices up-to-date 
  • Manual testing of internal demos and product features on a regular basis 
  • If necessary, coordinate and work with contractors at remote locations 

Required Qualifications: 
  •  BA/BS degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Computer ScienceEngineering or in lieu of degree overall 4 years of relevant work experience 
  • Experience using electronic test equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, function generators, DMM, and spectrum analyzers. 
  • Experience with electronic and hand-powered tools (soldering, Dremel, etc.) 

Nice to Have Skills: 
  • 2 years of experience using 3D printers and basic knowledge of CAD software 
  • Detail oriented, disciplined, and a strong team player 
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills. 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and perform under pressure in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
