Project Overview:
Our client's Free-Space Optical Communication team is seeking a test engineer to be part of a multi-disciplinary R&D team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building test stations, generating software and testing complex circuit card assemblies, optical subassemblies, lasers and optical receivers. The position seeks highly-motivated individuals that enjoy working in a small dynamic team environment, with a passion for solving challenging problems that can lead to high-impact advances in technology.

Top 4 Daily Responsibilities:
  • Develop opto/mechanical fixtures used for assembly, alignment and testing of optical assemblies.
  • Optical metrology including wavefront measurements and alignment accuracy
  • Environmental testing including thermal, shock, vibration, emi and esd.
  • Generate test procedures, test plans, test reports and processes for tracking the composition and test logs associated with each assembly.
Overall Responsibilities:
  • Automation of environmental and reliability testing
  • Support engineering hardware and software debugging.
Required Skills:
  • BS ME, Optics or related field
  • Experience with Solidworks, Zemax
  • Experience with optics, optical alignment and optical metrology equipment including interferometers.
  • Experience with machining aluminum fixtures and 3D printing
Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:
  • Experience with electro-optical components and electrical components. Using lab bench electrical equipment including o-scope and spectrum analyzers
  • Python or Labview experience
