Sales Tool Support Engineer

Project Overview:
This project is focused on supporting Taskmaster, an internal tool used by thousands of sales reps and managers within our client company to provide information about current sales performance. It involves handling user escalations as well as implementing fixes and features to improve data reliability.

Overall Responsibilities:
As a Sales Tool Support Engineer, you will provide superior technical support for internal workflow applications and sales reporting tools. Your customers will be our client's sales reps. You will triage, troubleshoot, and escalate user-facing issues, using SQL to analyze the data to isolate the root cause of issues and sometimes examining existing SQL/Python code to determine intended functionality. Communicate effectively with non-technical sales staff who report the issues, as well as with peer engineers and other technical groups to enhance tools and resolve user issues. Monitor customer feedback and product performance and ensure prompt resolution of technical challenges. Write new features using SQL, Python, and BASH to introduce automated validation.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
  1. Address user feedback by triaging bugs, troubleshooting and making code changes to accommodate user requests and resolve issues.
  2. Be an external voice for the team, able to address user concerns and inspire confidence in our tools
  3. Extract, normalize and combine data from multiple sources using SQL-based query languages.
Required Skills:
  • BS degree in Computer Science or similar technical field, (In lieu of degree must have 3+ years of industry experience)
  • 2+ years experience in technical support or QA.
  • 2+ years of strong SQL experience.
  • 1+ years of Python experience, or similar programming language.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to have skills/Not Required:
  • Experience with JIRA/Buganizer or other bug tracking software.
  • Experience writing automated unit tests.
  • Comfortable with Unix/Linux environments and/or writing BASH/BATCH shell scripts.
  • Experience with web application development and/or JavaScript.
