Flutter Tech Writer

Position Overview:
We're adding a new Technical Writer to the Flutter DevRel team, to write documentation for Flutter and Dart. You will be working with the Flutter DevRel and Engineering teams to communicate with developers worldwide through conceptual documentation, detailed developer guides, code samples, API references, and other online materials.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:
  1. Update existing or create new documentation for Flutter that will be published on the web site, Flutter's online API docs and our client related websites
  2. Write technical tutorials for Flutter based on provided samples
  3. Edit, clarify, proofread documents and articles written by members of Flutter DevRel, Flutter Eng and the external community
Additional responsibilities:
Collaborate with other tech writers to maximize quality of documentation processes and substance.

Required Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree or 5+ years of relative experience in lieu of degree
  • 4 years of relevant experience, such as technical writing, product documentation, or online publishing including experience with writing technical customer-facing materials.
  • Experience with source code written in one or more programming languages such as Java, Kotlin, Objective-C, Swift or Javascript.
  • Experience in writing for a developer audience, including SDK tool guides, API how-to guides, and technical concept guides.
  • A history of writing simple and direct documentation for developers (working with APIs, SDKs, and developer tools).
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
Nice to have Qualifications:
  • Proficiency with HTML and CSS; proficiency in a UNIX environment.
  • Strong technical writing background in a mobile (e.g. Android, iOS) or web
  • Markdown primary format and some HTML and our client Doc documentation
  • Experience with the Dart programming language.
