Vehicle CAD Package Lead
(TVC) -- Novi, MI, USA

As the Vehicle CAD Package Lead, you will be working exclusively in a CATIA CAD environment with a cross-functional design and engineering team to support the vehicle package process and objectives, maintain a digital buck, identify geometric compatibility issues, and work with the team to deliver solutions for the integration of self driving systems.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities
  1. Develop and maintain the CAD database for overall vehicle layout across multiple systems and subsystems ensuring geometric compatibility with mechanical package objectives
  2. Detailed evaluation of CAD assemblies to Identify, document and resolve geometric compatibility issues and vehicle package targets
  3. Rapid turn-around of CAD concept proposals considering trade-offs including quality, function, weight, cost, assembly feasibility, etc.
Other Responsibilities
  • Maintain CATIA based digital model assembly / digital buck, and coordinate transfer of data with engineering partners
  • Facilitate meetings, presenting CAD data, evaluating "on-the-fly” by cutting sections and measuring clearances
  • Document and distribute issues in Powerpoint (Slides), track issues to resolution in Excel (Sheets)
  • Schedule and support Package sign-off reviews with Engineering, Manufacturing and Service functional groups
  • Develop CATIA BASED detailed component / sub-system designs and documentation / drawings when required to create demonstration and/or package prototypes
  • Maintain CAD data structure and collaborate with PLM system
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with hands on CATIA V5 or V6 - High-level of CATIA proficiency expected - will be evaluated as part of interview process
  • 5+ years automotive design or engineering experience
  • Self-starter with creative and critical thinking capabilities, and demonstrates the ability to work autonomously and maintain communication with interested parties.
  • Experience in vehicle level mechanical package / geometric integration
  • Experience collaborating and communicating with cross functional teams and external organizations
  • Documentation skills via 2-D drawings, Powerpoint (Slides) and/or Excel (Sheets)
  • Occasional travel to California as needed (1-2 times within assignment duration)
Nice-to-have skills/qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or related discipline
  • Working knowledge of SAE Vehicle Package standards
  • Experience using ENOVIA(SmartTeam) PLM system
