Position overview
Local Guides is a global recognition & reward program for people who love to share their experiences by contributing content to our client Maps, which helps others make more confident local decisions. As an Email Developer for Local Guides, you're responsible for html production, localization and testing of email content to Local Guides. This includes content ingestion from community & marketing teams, ensuring content is optimized across screen sizes, and all approvals processes are met.

You are an expert in email production. You have expertise in building mobile responsive email code and are knowledgeable in the intricacies of the most common email clients. You test thoroughly and completely across devices, screen sizes, apps, etc. You are detail oriented and take responsibility for the email looking and working exactly as intended.

Top 3 daily responsibilities:
  1. Produce html emails and templates that render perfectly across top email clients
  2. Manage localization of email content (copy & graphics) in 42 non-english languages
  3. Review and QA the work of other Email Developers to ensure that content is correct and process is being followed
Overall Responsibilities:
  • Become an expert in email processes at our client, and ensure Local Guides emails are a leading example of how to do email at our client
  • Drive improvements to team process around email production
  • Interact with all organizational levels, develop and manage project schedules, identify risks and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements (required to be successful in the position)
  • BA/BS in any field
  • 5 years of experience producing HTML emails
  • 5 + years expertise in inlined CSS & HTML
  • 5 years Experience with optimizing email content across screen sizes, mail clients and for different languages
  • Excellent attention to detail while working in a very fast-paced environment
  • Scrappy - gets the job done with the tools available
  • Ability to navigate complex processes
Nice to Have (Skills that would be nice to have but are not required to be successful in the position)
  • Experience with MySQL
  • Experience with Sketch
  • Experience with PhotoShop
  • Experience with cross-browser email testing software like Litmus or Emails or Acid
  • Ability to work independently on projects, but know when to ask for help
